I took an awesome Iceland vacation
The greatest vacation I have ever had was the wonderful time I spent in Iceland last summer. To be honest, I have never had such a fun and amusing vacation in my entire life. I have been all over the world sightseeing for the past twenty years but there is no more picturesque place than Iceland in the summer. It is light and the hills near the deep fjords are covered with the most beautiful wildflowers you can imagine. I agree that it is quite expensive to take a trip to Iceland as it is so remote, but I can assure you that it is worth every penny. Anyone who loves the ocean, the mountains and the grassy shores of this marvellous land should take a vacation in Iceland.
Usually any Iceland vacation begins with a cruise from one of the ports of Europe. Direct flights to Reykjavik are always an option but one I would not recommend. If you directly fly to Iceland you will miss the opportunity to sail through the amazing deep natural harbors and see all the old-fashioned farming villages situated delicately on the rocky shores. Don't fly to Iceland unless you don't want to smell the ocean air on your Iceland vacation or you don't want to see how the island rises in the distance.
Even though the boat trip and the picturesque scenery are magnificent, they are not the high point of your vacation in Iceland. What will really make all the difference from the many other vacations you've taken are the natural hot springs known all over the world. When in Iceland, make sure to enjoy the favorite national pastime. It a wide-known fact that Icelanders spend most of the winter and some of the summer months peacefully soaking in these hot springs. This is how they deal with the long months of night away; this is how they manage to stay in relative comfort. There are hot springs all over the island and if you give it a try you might actually find one which is quite private and enjoy this native treasure all by yourself.
When having an Iceland vacation don't forget to go around the rim road. Most of the interior of Iceland is impassible as it is barren and icy. Even though there are people living in the south of Iceland, the only way to go north is to follow a single road which crosses the whole edge of the island.
