Article directory on Scandinavian animals

Most Scandinavian countries are sparely populated so there are still enormous forests that are natural habitat for wild (and sometimes dangerous) animals like bear and wolf. The elk is without a doubt the biggest animal of Scandinavia, and if you travel by car through Scandinavia you are very likely to see them along the road. Be careful though, the elks might cross your road at any moment.

Fishing and hunting are hobbies that many Scandinavians enjoy as well as wildlife vacations in general. Fishing trouts in the northern rivers of Scandinavia is a true pleasure. Be aware of the insects though; Scandinavia houses an enormous amount of insects during summer, especially mosquitos.

If you don´t want to go out in the nature to see all this there are some really nice open-air museums and zologicals in Scandinavia. One of the more famous is Skansen, situated in Stockholm, Sweden, and inaugurated in the late 19th century.

Nevertheless, be assured that the Scandinavian nature is very accesible to everyone, which is not the case in Southern Europe for example. The majority of the Scandinavian people want to live close to the nature. The access to forests and other non-urban areas are therefore guaranteed by law. In Sweden, there is an unwritten law that gives anyone the right to walk through a forest, even though it´s registered as private property. You might even collect fruits like blueberry etc. This law is called "Allemansrätt" and was initiated in the 16th century.
